Riley Shaper

Project Team Coordinator

In her role as Project Team Coordinator, Riley supports the coordination, training, and field operations of backcountry ecological monitoring teams and field stewards as they work to identify and restore degraded terrain throughout the Sierras. Riley previously worked as an intern, then served as Project Coordinator within the JMT Wild monitoring program. Now with the organization full-time, she continues to work closely with the Project Team to help research best practices, organize our digital and physical inventories, ensure each field season runs smoothly.

Riley holds a degree in Geophysics from Stanford University, where she was a member of the Radio Glaciology research group. Since moving from Texas to the Bay Area, Riley has spent ample time working and recreating in the Sierra Nevada. With a background in outdoor education and Geophysical research, Riley continues to leverage her experience in academia with practical backcountry knowledge. When not at work, Riley can be found crafting, knitting, or snowboarding.
