December 22, 2023
Thanks to your support, 2023 has been one of our most successful years yet! Filled with change and obstacles, our team adapted to it all, and as a result:
- We deployed 20 undergraduate research interns throughout the High Sierra.
- Our teams worked in five project areas along the John Muir Trail.
- The Mt. Whitney landscape-level project was successfully started as interns gathered data to form the basis of the restoration plan for upcoming years.
- Significant work is now underway in Red’s Meadow Valley to redesign and reconstruct campgrounds and roadways to preserve the riparian corridor adjacent to the San Joaquin River.
- Our vital collected data has been shared with our federal partners so that all agencies involved in managing the JMT can create appropriate restoration plans.
- We’ve developed even more robust science protocols for the summer 2024 field season, continuing to increase the value of our work.
